Makkah (IINA) – Former Saudi Minister of Justice Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa assumed office on Thursday as secretary general of the Muslim World League (MWL), succeeding Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmohsen Al-Turki.
In a statement obtained by the International Islamic News Agency (IINA), MWL Assistant Secretary General Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al-Zaid, on behalf of MWL's staff, congratulated Dr. Al-Issa on his appointment, and expressed gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Al-Turki for his great efforts during his tenure as secretary general of MWL.
Al-Issa was chosen by Saudi Arabia as secretary general of MWL in the month of Sha'ban and the procedures of his appointment were completed by the League over the last period.
It is to be noted that MWL is an international non-governmental Islamic organization based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. It is engaged in the propagation of the religion of Islam, elucidating its principles and tenets, refuting suspicious and false allegations made against the religion. The MWL strives to persuade people to abide by the commandments of their Lord, and to keep away from prohibited deeds.
The MWL is always ready to help Muslims solve problems facing them anywhere in the world, and carry out their projects in the spheres of dawa, education and culture. The League is also rejecting all acts of violence and extremism, besides promoting dialogue with the people of other cultures.
